FAWM Song #4 – When All Your Songs Are Love Songs

This was a fun song to write. I was tired of writing love songs, and my lament to my husband, who happened to be playing his ukulele, inspired this one. I don’t usually do silly songs, but this was fun and just what I needed to lighten my mood.

I’m tired of writing love songs
I need an upbeat tune
no more wailing on guitar
or howling at the moon

Those sappy scrappy love songs
they start to make me cringe
I need a change, a different tune
a life out on the fringe

When all your songs are love songs

so instead I’ll play the uke

I took your uke down off the wall
to write this silly song
if you dont mind I’ll put it back
i’m sure it wont take long

a uke song is a happy one
its hard to wear a frown
when playing ukulele
that frown turns upside down

so instead I’ll play the uke

On the uke it is much easier
to play that damn F chord
It opens up a bigger world
of writing songs galore
